ART INSTALLATIONS

REFLEX

REFLEX

REFLEX is a dynamic contextual artwork that responds to its immediate surroundings by creating a subtle light play, constantly appearing and disappearing by the waterfront of Gammel Strand in the centre of Copenhagen. Hundreds of swaying prismatic pieces change their expression throughout the day and night, reflecting elements from its environment – the daily rhythm of the wind, light and movements of the city and its inhabitants.

OPLYST

A co-created light installation produced during Kulturnatten 2019 by kids and their adults at Copenhagen Central Library.

A myriad of discarded books and magazines were turned into simple paper lanterns, inspired by popular folk festivals in Romania. OPLYST means both "enlightened" and "lit", thus the name of the installation reflects its location as well as our need for light during the darker months. The creators were encouraged to leave their mark by sketching, making holes and write messages of hope on their lanterns.

SUMMONING GODOT

Summoning Godot is an interactive installation and ritual act applying light, smoke and mirrors for making present that, which is waited for at the moment before creation. A personal symbol is acquired through a private interaction with the installation and is kept for future use.

The curatorial theme of the exhibition Before shine wanted to dig into the moment before an author creates. The installation answers with a ritual act that can be recreated for the purpose of summoning that moment anytime.

Curation by Jocelyn Ibarra.
